Your Negative Comments Fuel My Fire I have been selling creepy dolls online for 5 years now. I have a huge fan base and it has been an amazing journey. Every once in awhile, I will get hate mail or someone will bash me on a blog or website somewhere. These negative comments do 2 things which is usually the OPPOSITE of what their author intended. 1. They fuel my fire. The longer your hate mail is , the more gruesome of a piece I want to make. Maybe that makes me weird but when I get a 10 paragraph long email about how I will burn in Hell, I feel passion within my artistic loins! You better bet that the next piece I make will be more horrific than the last! 2. It causes people to look at my site or my exhibit. Controversy is a best seller! Look at every celeberity in Hollywood. Those with drama are the ones we pay attention to the most. Who cares about Tom Cruise anymore? Throw in his wacky beliefs POW! instant hits to the Scientology website! So if you say how terrible my art is, people will look and I will sell more or get more hits or whatever. Had you not said anything, I would remain hidden in the corners of the art world.
