Using your own bag for groceries
Sometimes I go to the grocery store just for one or two items. Until recently, I never thought twice about using one of the stores paper or plastic bags. Then one of the bags I was carrying ripped when I was walking home and I just decided that I would start using my own bag for quick shopping trips. Pros- *you can use a pretty bag. Lots of people online can make you oversized bags (some sellers on Etsy sell beautiful ones!) or you can find a cool tote in a store. Target offers some at the checkout area now. *you are saving trees which is good for the planet. * bag is more durable and less likely to break. * some stores take money off your bill if you use your own bag. Whole foods gave me $0.05 off. Buffalo Exchange gives you a token to out into a charity box of your choice (usually there are a couple to choose from). * shoulder straps. I walk to the local farm to shop and it is nice to be able to throw the bag over my shoulder on the trip home. I also use the same bag when I go to the post office. I sell online and sometimes i have lots of packages to carry. I used to use a plastic bag but now i use my grocery bag and it saves the plastic. Cons- * it is not always practical to do this when you are doing major grocery shopping.
