Toaster Ovens VS Traditional Toasters
When I was growing up, we had a standard toaster. It was one someone gave my parents when they were married. It cooked 2 pieces of bread at a time so if you wanted more than that, you were out of luck. As i got a little older, one side stopped working so your toast was soft on one side and crispy on the other. I begged my parents to get a new one but it never really mattered to them, they were not big toast eaters. cooking bagels in the toaster was out. English muffins were a tight squeeze. I longed for more.... Then in high school I began dating my future husband. His mom had a toaster oven! It was like a new world to explore. I could cook all kinds of things in a toaster oven. Of course, there was the basic toast and WOW! I could make four pieces at once! The toaster oven had settings just like a real oven which meant things like microwave burritos, frozen french fries and pizza bagels could be made. Then the toaster oven died. We went on a hunt for a new one because by then, we were married and dependent on the darn thing. We found that there all kinds of options from chaep to expensive. in the end, we settled on a $40 one with a bonus pizza tray. Shortly after buying the new one, we rented a house that had no oven (long story). The toaster oven took on the task of being our only source of heating food beyong the stove and microwave. We used it all the time. I will never go back to a standard toaster again. NEVER! For just a little more money, you can get an appliance that is really an everyday item. It makes thing crispier in my opinion. |
